Cathy Salit is an author, performer, executive coach, social entrepreneur and CEO of Performance of a Lifetime – a consulting firm that uses the art and science of play and theatrical performance to help leaders and organizations to grow their teams, enhance collaboration, create culture, and expand their ability to play and work well with others.
Cathy's client list includes Twitter, American Express, Nike, Coca-Cola, Rolls Royce, The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her work and thought leadership have been featured in the Harvard Business Review , Fast Company , The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Inc., Wired, and numerous academic and business journals. Cathy is the author of Performance Breakthrough: A Radical Approach to Success at Work (Hachette), which has widely praised. Best selling author Dan Pink wrote, “This remarkable book will electrify yourwork and enliven your soul.”
Cathy has been shaking things up since she was 13, when she began her career as an upstart and risk-taker by dropping out of eighth grade and starting an alternative school in an abandoned storefront in New York City. This unusual endeavor put Cathy on an uncharted life path, and she has dedicated her life to creating educational environments that challenge the status quo and offer high-impact learning and development experiences. In addition to her work with business leaders, she works with inner city youth through the performance-based All Stars Project, and with performance activists around the world through the bi-annual Performing the World conference and a cutting-edge research and training center, the East Side Institute.
When she’s not leading workshops or giving keynotes, she’s performing musical improv comedy at the award-winning Castillo Theatre in NYC, and singing jazz and the blues where anyone will let her.
